The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, has stated that government will commence the Marine Drive Tourism Investment Project covering the over 240 acres of land from Osu Christiansborg Castle to the Arts Center.
According to him, this project will transform the beach area into a tourism enclave to create jobs for the teeming youth.
The Minister made this statement during the 2017 budget presentation on March 2. He again noted that tourism and the creative arts industry remains one of the underdeveloped sectors in our country despite the immense growth potential and opportunities for job creation.
“When developed, the sector can positively impact the lives of many Ghanaians, communities and small enterprises in our country, providing needed jobs for our teeming youth”, he said.
As the Akufo-Addo led administration is keen on developing the country in partnership with the private sector, Ken Ofori Atta said the Efua Sutherland Park will be developed, in partnership with the private sector, into an ultra-modern world class Park and Information Technology will be a major contributor in promoting and marketing tourism.
He again assured that the Ministry will also undertake a food festival to showcase the diverse rich Ghanaian foods through cooking competition throughout the country.
