The chairman of Parliament's Select Committee for Youth, Sports, and Tourism, Kobena Mensah Woyome has alleged that the country spent up to $15 million on feeding athletes during the African Games.
Mr. Woyome claims about $15m was used to feed the 2,644 athletes that participated in the 18-day event.
"You are spending $245 million, and out of that, we got to know that a whopping amount of $15 million was used to feed athletes for 18 days," Woyome stated.
In view of this, the MP for South Tongu has called for a bipartisan inquiry into Ghana’s African Games expenditure.
''You realize that some of these things need to be investigated.''
The Local Organizing Committee and the Sports Ministry are yet to render a full account of the country's expenditure six months after the Games despite consecutive assurances.
