Local chiefs in Agbogboshie, a suburb of Accra have threatened to disown young people in the area who engage in violence after the verdict of the Supreme Court on the election petition.
They gave the assurance after a meeting among chiefs of ten ethnic groups in the community.
Agbogbloshie has been a hotbed of deadly political violence over the years.
There were fears the community was politically polarized and that the Supreme Court ruling could reignite tensions there.
But the Dagomba chief for Agbogbloshie, Zakari Ziblim told Joy news they would ensure the youth do not engage in any such violent activities.
According to him, they will hand over anyone who engages in violence to the police, to serve as an example to others.
The Dagomba chief added that the youth have for the past two weeks been sensitized to accept the verdict if it goes for or against their political parties.
Zakari Ziblim advised the youth not to allow selfish politicians to take advantage of them.
Also, youth at Agbogbloshie have vowed to live in peace no matter the court verdict.
They maintained that, it is now time to live in peace for Ghana to develop.
Meanwhile, the final verdict on the Presidential Election Petition will be delivered on August 29, 2013.
