The leadership of Akwatia Constituency New Patriotic Party has expressed its happiness over the election of Hon. Kingson A. Kissi as the Eastern Regional Chairman of the party.
He was overwhelmingly elected by over six hundred delegates who gathered at Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital, last Saturday to cast their votes to elect the regional executives.
The party congratulated the newly elected chairman and also commended the delegates for reposing their trust and confidence in Hon. Kissi.
“We wish to state that the unity of the party is imperative, and therefore we take the opportunity to remind the new regional chairman to strive to work hard to bring everybody on board in the supreme interest of the party,” the leadership said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Akwatia constituency has a strong belief that Hon. Kissi, two terms Member of Parliament for Akwatia Constituency, will bring to bear his rich political experience on the electoral fortunes in the next general elections.
They however, entreated him to carry out or fulfill his campaign promise of redeeming and strengthening the party in the region.
Undoubtedly, one of the cardinal objectives of the new chairman is to recapture the Akwatia constituency seat for NPP in 2016 as he stated, “As a chairman, I will make sure Baba Jamal, incumbent NDC MP for Akwatia constituency becomes a one term lawmaker”.
To achieve victory in 2016, we call on the party people particularly those who lost in the Saturday’s elections to bury their differences and offer their unflinching support to the new chairman, the statement noted.
