Leader of the All Peoples Congress Party( APC), Alhaji Hassan Ayariga, has expressed deep sorrow over the recent tragic death of two ministers of state and six others.
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, announced the tragic news at a press conference and directed that all national flags be flown at half-mast in honour of the deceased. He also extended the government’s condolences to the bereaved families and the nation.
The deceased include Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC and former Kumasi mayor; Mr Samuel Aboagye, former NDC parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East; Squadron Leader Peter; Flying Officer Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo.
In a heartfelt statement, Mr Ayariga said, “It is with a heavy heart that I received the sad news of the passing of two ministers of state and six others in these recent tragic circumstances. This is a profound loss not only to their families but also to our beloved nation.”
He extended his condolences on behalf of the APC party, his family, and himself, saying, “On behalf of members of the APC party, my family and myself, I extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families. We mourn with you and share in your pain. At such a time of national grief, we must stand together in unity and compassion.”
He prayed that “Allah, the Most Merciful, grants them eternal rest, forgives their shortcomings, and welcomes them into His perfect peace.”
Addressing the families, friends, and loved ones of the deceased, he reassured them: “Know that you are not alone. We stand with you, we support you, and we pray for your strength in these difficult times.”
He concluded his statement with a solemn wish: “May their souls rest in perfect peace.”
