Former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama says it is ridiculous for any member or group within the New Patriotic Party to speculate that he is undermining Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign in the north.
On Wednesday, a leading member of the party in the Northern Region, Salifu Karim, alleged that the former vice president had instigated young people to seize party cars in private hands.
He claimed that the alleged instigation was part of a ploy by Alhaji Aliu Mahama to undermine Nana Akufo-Addo.
But Alhaji Aliu Mahama said he was surprised at the allegations and describes them as unfounded.
He said he had toured the northern regions canvassing support for the NPP flag-bearer and wondered why anybody could accuse him of attempting to scupper Nana Addo’s campaign.
He said after being a vice-president for eight years, he had no motivation to seek to undermine the party’s flag-bearer.
Joy News has learnt the Northern regional executives of the NPP have been invited to Accra Friday for an amicable resolution to the impasse over party vehicles.
