Amma NaaBia Boachie Danquah was born in Accra, Ghana to parents Nana Yaw Boachie-Danquah and Woyram Boachie-Danquah, a retired lecturer with the University of Ghana and politician/businesswoman. She is the firstborn of three children.
She credits her parents with giving her the freedom to find herself creatively and allowing her to learn and improve from failures. Her parents gave her money to start her very first company, NaaBia Hampers and Gifts right after university, it is now defunct.
She holds a first degree from the University of Ghana Legon where she read Geography and Political science. Amma is a single mother of two and is currently the creative director of Bassinets and More Limited which she owns.

Bassinets and More Limited is a 7-year-old bespoke furniture production firm that is into the production of furniture i.e. kitchen cabinets, sofa units and wood wax polish. Starting Bassinets and More did not come straight away, she had a good stint with corporate work and that served as the proper formative stage on what it takes to set up a business, market, seek funding, meet targets etc.
Amma worked in corporate for six years before she ventured into the world of construction and manufacturing.
She started Bassinets and More Ltd after the birth of her daughter happened pre-term. Preterm delivery means that the baby had not fully achieved the normal gestational months and came out at a weight of 1.4kg. She had to get a shallow cot for her because her baby was too small to sleep in a deep-end cot. She designed a unique bassinet for herself and as it proved beneficial, she decided to engage other mothers with similar experiences.

Whilst selling bassinets, she started building custom furniture pieces for patios, gardens and terraces using the raw material rattan. It proved to be a success and allowed her to pivot from garden furniture to indoor furniture.
That pivot allowed her to use her expertise and experience in corporate Ghana, building bassinets and outdoor furniture to seek for funding to employ professionals, invest in quality raw materials and market the new line of business to a wider audience. She was able to set a workshop as well.
Amma has worked in private homes and corporate offices across the country and is very proud of the work her team has achieved before and during the height of the pandemic when restrictions made people shut down offices to work remotely.

Most people having to work from home realized that they didn’t have good setups and also their workstations were dry and looked sup par. They needed to polish their furniture before zoom meetings before they have friends and family over or simply to clean during routine house chores.
She and her team formulated Woodsy Wax polish, an instant DIY polish that ensured that within 10 minutes you are able to restore lustre on the wood surface after buffing. It is an FDA-approved product and works well with all wood types. It is an organic wood wax that leaves no residue after use. It can be used both on furniture, wooden cookware and wooden toys.
