Ghana's Andrew has been ruled out of action from two months following a sprain in the left knee during last Tuesday's World in 2014 play-off in Cairo.
Andre Ayew was subtituted in the 55th minute in the game between Egypt and Ghana in which the latter lost 1:2 but qualified with an aggregate 7:3.
Olympic Marseille confirmed Thursday that, the 23 year old player "has an outer unstable meniscal tear" .
"It requires a SURGICAL procedure. The operation will be led by Dr. Jean -Pierre Franceschi in Marseille , Monday, Nov. 25 in the morning.
"The duration of the unavailability of the Olympian striker is about 8 weeks. His comeback is scheduled for the end of January.
Further details of the situation is expected to be announced by the medical team later, the Club said.
