ASECOSA homecoming activities begins on Friday

The old students of Asuom Secondary School (ASECOSA) will from Friday, October 25, 2013 assemble at Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District in the Eastern Region to begin their 3-day homecoming activities.

The theme for the event is 'a moment of stakeholder participation in ensuring quality education'.

Speaking to the media, the President of ASECOSA, Rev. Alex Boakye-Yiadom, said this year's homecoming “activities of ASECOSA...is aimed at encouraging old students of various secondary schools in the country to come together and build their alma mata."

He underscored the need for all old students of the various senior high schools in the country to fulfill their social responsibilities towards the development of their schools and the entire country as a whole.

Giving details of the program of activities, the Vice President of ASECOSA, Mr. Mark Brako-Appiah said as part of this year's event, “we are organizing a career and counselling session on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 6pm-9pm at the premises of Asuom Secondary School, where experts will provide lectures for students and people of Asuom”.

“On Saturday, a grand durbar and fund-raising ceremony will be held at the premises of the school. The special guest of honour for the Saturday event is Hon. Ofosu Asamoah, Member of Parliament for Kwaebibirem Constituency", he said.

Mr. Mark Brako-Appiah  also added that “last year, the old students raised funds to buy Dinning Tables and Chairs for the school’s dining hall. This year, the funds will be used to purchase a Generator set for the school. A special thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday to climax the home-coming activities.”

A great number of old students of Asuom Secondary School who have impacted greatly to the development of the country are expected to attend this year’s homecoming.
