The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has dared the 17 persons he labelled as thieves who contested the New Patriotic Party's presidential ticket for election 2008 to sue him if they feel aggrieved. Mr. Asiedu Nketiah on December 11, 2007 during the ‘Yewuo’ demonstration organised by the Committee for Joint Action (CJA), called all the 17 aspirants thieves who were in a contest to elect the chief thief, questioning the source of funding for their campaigns. But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, the NDC General Secretary, otherwise called General Mosquito, explained that the 17 presidential aspirants of the NPP should proceed to court and demand compensation if they believe the allegation is not true adding that “there is no time limitation for criminal cases”. General Mosquito noted that he is prepared to meet them in court because he has sufficient evidence to support his allegations. Meanwhile, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah says he has sued NPP deputy national chairman and former CEO of the Bui Power Authority, Fred Oware for defamation and a calculated attempt to tarnish his hard won reputation. Mr. Fred Oware accused Asiedu Nketiah of conflict of interest for selling cement blocks to the Bui Power Authority (BPA) whiles serving as a board member of same. But Mr. Asiedu Nketiah has vehemently rejected the conflict of interest allegation adding that as a board member of the Bui Project, he is not under any contractual agreement to provide blocks for the project, neither were the contractors under any compulsion to buy blocks from his company. The Convention Peoples Party Youth Organiser, James Kwabena Bomfeh also known as Kabila, a panelist on the programme, described the NDC General Secretary as a “thief of thieves”.
