Some supporters of the Ash-Gold Sporting Club have expressed their disappointment at the team’s performance in recent times.
They particularly took a swipe at the players for their lukewarm attitude towards the on-going One Touch Premier League matches especially regarding their home matches.
The lukewarm attitude, they contended resulted in the team being technically ruled out of finishing among the top four clubs to enable them to at least participate in the CAF Confederations Cup.
The supporters expressed their sentiments at separate interviews with the GNA Sports on Wednesday at the Len Clay Sports Stadium at Obuasi after visiting Kpando Heart of Lions defeated Ash-Gold 2-1 in their 28th mid-week Premier League encounter.
Ashgold currently lie at the fifth position on the league table with 41 points and placed behind Berekum Arsenals who are on 43 points.
Mr. Yaw Boateng, a businessman called for an overhaul of the team, saying the management should endeavour to recruit more experienced, talented and serious players who would be committed to the cause of the Club at the next soccer season.
He also called for the engagement of a more competent coach to replace Mohammed Gargo as head of the Technical Team, noting that this was the only way the dwindling fortunes of the club could be improved.
Lydia Amponsah, a teacher appealed to well meaning supporters of the club to rally behind the team and support in cash and in kind for the betterment of their performance.
She cautioned that the morale of the team could be further dampened if supporters do not desist from lambasting the players in times of difficulties.
Mr. Mike Agyepong, a mechanic charged the players, management and the technical team to shun complacency as the team embarks on a vigorous campaign to redeem their image in the league.
