The Assemblies of God Church in at Diabena, where Ruth Love Quayeson was kidnapped, has ended 14 days of prayer and fasting seeking the face of God to bring her and two other missing young ladies back.

Ruth, 18, Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21, and Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, 15, were reported kidnapped on December 4, August 17, and December 21, last year, respectively.

According to Head Pastor, Andrew Awhaitey, the church has been following keenly the developments of the story with fasting and prayers.

Pastor Awhaitey, in an interaction with the Gender and Social Protection Minister, Cynthia Morrison, on Sunday said he believes the prayers are yielding good results.

Visit to families of victims

The Gender Minister visited the families of the victims, on Sunday, January 27, where she revealed to the press that the main suspect in the kidnapping of the girls had confessed that they were alive.

The Minister also stated that the key suspect, Samuel Udoetuk-Wills, who was initially not giving out information about the whereabouts of the girls, has now been providing good leads.

The Minister had gone to the family of the kidnapped girls in the morning to comfort and assure them of governments’ commitment to doing everything within its power to rescue the missing young ladies.

Before the Minister’s visit, an entourage from the police administration, led by Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department, DCOPMaame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, had paid a similar visit to the families of the kidnapped young ladies.

Pastor Awhaitey pleaded with the Gender Minister and the police to do anything in their power to retrieve the missing young girls.

He revealed that the church started fasting and prayers for Ruth Love Quayeson when news of her kidnap reached the church.

He added that when the suspect was caught the first, the church was hopeful the girl was going to return but their hope was short-lived when the suspect escaped from his cell.

The church, according to the pastor, started another round of prayers for the return of the girl and the suspect.

15 arrested

The police, following some leads, arrested 15 suspects in connection with the kidnappings in Nuaso in the Eastern Region.

They were arrested in a dawn swoop on Friday.

Odumasi Police Commander, ASP Harry Selormey, told Joy News the raid was done in collaboration with police from Takoradi.

He said a team of personnel from the Western Region capital initiated the operation with relevant intelligence on where the suspects could be picked up.
