The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, has led the Executive Presbytery to pay a courtesy call on IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

Discussions centred on collaboration between the church and the Ghana Police Service to ensure the security of citizens and the state.

Rev. Wengam lauded the IGP for the critical reforms he has initiated to transform the police into an institution of excellence.
He further praised the police for their selfless dedication to duty and condemned recent attacks on police officials by some recalcitrant citizens.

The General Superintendent briefed the IGP on the strides made by the Assemblies of God worldwide. He revealed that the global population of the church is now 89.9 million, making Assemblies of God the largest Protestant church in the world.
Rev. Wengam disclosed that owing to the progress made by the church in Ghana, the World Assemblies of God Fellowship has chosen Ghana as the venue for the church’s 2026 World Congress from October 12 to October 14, 2026.

This is the first time a global congress is being held in Africa.
Rev. Wengam requested the support of the Ghana Police Service to provide security for participants coming from all over the world.

Rev. Wengam was positive that the world Congress will contribute to the growth of Ghana’s economy.
The delegation prayed for the IGP and presented a Bible and some Christian books on leadership to him and his directorate.
The IGP, in turn, presented a plaque to Rev. Wengam to commemorate the visit of the Executive Presbytery.
