The Reverend Lawrence Oduro, head of the Ateiku branch of the Church of Christ, at the weekend cut the tape amidst praises to inaugurate a modern hospital for the Church at Ateiku.
The GHS 1,200,000.00 hospital, initiated by Rev. Oduro and his wife Patience, has been named: "Christina Adcock and Sons Christian Hospital", after its sponsors.
It has engaged dedicated trained medical staff to provide friendly, integrated quality healthcare to patients in its catchments area. The Hospital is expected to serve more than a 100,000 people at Ateiku and its surrounding communities in the Wassa Mpohor East District of the Western Region, including Akyempim, Accra Town, Brofoyedur, Senkyem, Subiri and Adaase.
The donor and her son provided the funds for the construction of the 35 bed capacity hospital which also has an operating theatre, intensive care unit, Ear, Nose and throat Department and a dental unit.
Rev. Oduro was full of praise for the family of Ms Adcock and Nana Kwamena Damoah III, Mamponsohene of Ateiku, for releasing land to the church for the construction of the hospital and a Senior High School.
He said the mission of the hospital is to provide superior quality integrated health care in a centre of excellence with dedicated and motivated staff.
Nana Damoah commended Ms Christina Adcock and her son for providing funds for the construction of the hospital and pointed out that it was not only for members of the Church but open to all.
Mr. Stephen Kwofie, presiding member for Mpohor Wassa West District Assembly, commended the church for constructing the hospital and appealed to the medical staff to treat patients with respect and patience.
They should also ensure regular maintenance of the facility to prolong its life span, he urged.
