Officials at Atlanta's airport say international passenger traffic for last year set a new record.
Authorities say year-end statistics from 2011 show that international passengers increased by nearly 8 percent from the previous year, from 9.14 million to 9.86 million.
They say the new high eclipses the previous record of 9.18 million international passengers, set in 2008.
The Federal Aviation Administration estimates that more than 13 million international passengers will travel through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport annually by 2015.
The airport is building a new international terminal, which is set to open in the spring.
