A deputy Information Minister Mr. Baba Jamal has welcomed suggestions that the president meets political leaders to allay their fears towards the 2012 elections.
The suggestion was earlier made by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) following President Mills’ meeting with former President Kufuor at the castle.
The NPP proposed that the president should extend such an invitation to leaders of all the political parties to assure them of free and fair elections in 2012.
Even though the deputy minister agrees with the suggestion, he however points out that nobody can push the president into taking any “hasty decision.”
“For now he has invited President Kufuor; he knows the reason why he called him. They had a good discussion. If he thinks that he needs to invite anybody - it's not only Akufo-Addo– [he will], so we don’t think that the door of inviting people to meet with them by the president is completely closed,” Baba Jamal added.
