The Asamankese circuit court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢1,000 with one surety to a 20-year-old welder, Eric Kwame Amoah, charged with stealing two mobile phones.
Amoah pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry and stealing and will re-appear in court on May 7.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri, said on the night of March 17, Amoah unlawfully entered a room at Asamankese and stole two Samsung mobile phones belonging to two occupants of the room.
He said when the two discovered the theft, they made their own enquiries and had information from a witness in the case that Amoah was offering a mobile phone for sale at GH¢60.00
He said one of them gave GH¢60.00 to the witness to buy the phone which turned out to be one of the stolen phones.
A complaint was lodged with the police and Amoah was arrested.
In a caution statement to the police, Amoah mentioned that one Adjetey from Accra gave him the phone to sell, but could not help the police to locate the person.
