The central bank has introduced an exhibition showcasing the cedi’s transformation—from its first issue in 1965 to the redenomination in 2007, and now to the modern era of digital payments and financial inclusion.
The celebration also features academic discussions and public education programmes across the country to deepen understanding of Ghana’s monetary heritage.
The Cedi@60 commemoration, themed “Sovereignty, Stability, and Resilience”, will run throughout the year and is expected to culminate in policy forums and national engagements promoting greater trust in the cedi and highlighting its enduring role in Ghana’s economic story.
