Breast Care International (BCI) is advocating for the increased awareness efforts to continue throughout the year, aiming to reduce the incidence and mortality rates associated with breast cancer.
President of BCI, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe-Addai stated that when a woman is affected by breast cancer, it impacts not only her but also the men and everyone else connected to her.
She emphasized that the stress caused by breast cancer affects the entire family, including coworkers, and noted that the disease is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women globally.

Dr. Wiafe-Addai spoke at an event organized by Women in Aviation International, in partnership with Delta Airlines and Breast Care International (BCI), focusing on breast cancer education and clinical screenings in Accra.
Treasurer of Women in Aviation International, Cynthia Kukah, stated that true empowerment starts with prioritizing good health and well-being, as breast cancer affects everyone directly or indirectly.
She indicated the critical importance of early detection and treatment, noting that many women encounter barriers in accessing these essential services.

"Women in Aviation International, Ghana Chapter is proud to always partner with Breast Care International and Delta Air Lines to bridge this gap."
She noted that Dr. Wiafe-Addai has consistently shown dedication as a leading advocate in the vital fight against breast cancer.
"Her unwavering dedication and partnership with Women In Aviation International, Ghana Chapter and Delta Air Lines over the years have been instrumental in raising awareness and providing free screening services."

She stated that through her tireless efforts, Dr. Wiafe-Addai has made a significant impact by sharing essential information and enhancing awareness of this critical health issue among Ghanaian women, men, and youth.
"We are honored to have her presence once again today as she imparts her invaluable knowledge and expertise on this significant matter. You will have the opportunity to interact with her after her presentation and I encourage all ladies to take advantage of the free screening being offered, because early detection and treatment saves lives."
A representative of Delta Airlines, Mrs. Sarah Djabaki Annan, stated that their commitment to contributing to Ghana’s development is unwavering. She emphasized their belief in creating a lasting impact, highlighting the annual breast cancer awareness event as an example of their dedication to fostering a healthier and more informed country.
“Over the years, Delta has consistently championed breast cancer awareness initiatives, financed research projects, and maintained a close partnership with Breast Care International for the past 12 years. Together, we have focused on providing resources, education, and support to those affected by breast cancer,” she stated.
Mrs. Annan noted that with an investment of over $20 million in the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, funding more than 80 research projects, the organization demonstrates its commitment to standing in solidarity with employees, partners, and customers to create a lasting impact.
“Today, we are proud to once again provide free breast cancer screenings and educational sessions led by experts dedicated to empowering individuals with knowledge. We believe awareness is the first step towards prevention; and by coming together we can build a community of support, resilience, and hope.”
