President of Breast Care International (BCI) Dr. Beatrice Wiafe-Addai, has called on students of Queens Girls Senior High School at Sefwi Anwiaso in the Western North Region to establish breast cancer clubs. The initiative aims to sustain education about the disease among peers and promote awareness within their communities.
As part of BCI's ongoing commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer, a seminar and free breast cancer screenings were organised at the Senior High School. The event, organised in collaboration with Teva Pharmaceuticals, targeted adolescent females in the area in an effort to empower young minds and combat the prevalence of breast cancer.
During the programme, the students received education on the possible causes, prevention, and treatment of breast cancer. Dr. Beatrice Wiafe-Addai stressed the importance of educating the youth to instigate behavioural change and reduce the prevalence of the disease. Her vision is to empower the students to become ambassadors for breast cancer awareness within their communities.

Formation of "Breast Cancer Clubs"
Dr. Wiafe-Addai encouraged the students to take an active role in promoting breast cancer awareness by forming "Breast Cancer Clubs" within the school. These clubs, she believes, will serve as platforms for sustained education, discussion, and advocacy, fostering a culture of awareness and proactive healthcare.
The Headmistress of Queens Girls Senior High School, Evelyn Doris Acquah, commended BCI for the impactful education and screening programme. She urged the students to internalize the knowledge gained for their own well-being and to share it with their peers, families, and communities.

The Sanaahemaa of Anwiaso Traditional Council, Nana Ago-Saah, pledged to initiate a community-wide campaign to educate residents about the prevalence of breast cancer and its preventive measures. This collaborative effort aligns with the broader goal of creating a more informed and health-conscious society.
