Public Relations Officer of Bechem United, Bismark Danso has alleged Asante Kotoko made attempts to bribe their side to fix last Sunday’s MTN FA Cup quarter-final clash in Kumasi.
The Hunters won the game 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate to deny Kotoko a third consecutive MTN FA Cup semifinal appearance.
The Hunters complained about poor officiating despite winning and when the dust began to settle on one of the biggest upsets in this year’s competition, Bismark Danos made the startling revelation.
According to him, two unnamed officials of Kotoko asked them to play it soft because they do not have the finances to travel to Africa if they win the competition.
"Kotoko General Manager and their Operations Manager came to us and told us to lose the game,” he told Nhyira FM.
Opoku Nti told me if we win, we will not get the money to go to Africa so we should negotiate with them to beat us.
"Some members of MTN also came to our dressing room before extra time and wanted us to negotiate the match with them, but we didn’t agree."
The Porcupine Warriors were eliminated by Bechem the Cup competition after losing 2-3 on penalties in their quarter final match.
Bechem United will face lower division side Wa Rockets in the semi-final at the Baba Yara Stadium next month.
