Players of the national U-20 team, the Black Satellites on Monday commenced preparation for the final round qualifier of the African Youth Championship.
Ghana has been paired against The Gambia for the September 28 fixture with the first leg coming up at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.
Africa’s qualifying series has now been narrowed down to 14 sides after the July’s first round of qualifiers.
Seven teams would qualify over a two-leg fixture for the Championship to be hosted by Rwanda in 2009.
Black Satellites coach Sellas Tetteh called up 36-member squad for camping as he prepares for the first leg match at home.
Ghana reached the final round stage of the qualifiers after managing a 5-2 aggregate win over Angola.
The list includes nine foreign-based players with the local component dominating the squad.
Richard Aticah and Stephen Damalie (Berekum Chelsea) Isaac Paintsil (Berekum Berlin F/C) Agyeman Badu(Berekum Arsenals) Daniel Addo, Eric Opoku and Ebo Andoh (King Faisal) and Latif Salifu and Khalif Alhassan (Liberty Professionals).
Others are Francis Boadi (Great Olympics) Amponsah Blankson (Eagle Giant) Hans Kwofie and Godfred Rockson (Hearts of Lions) Robert Dabou, Gafaru Nasiru, Philip Boampong and Naza Abdul (Wa All Stars) Ben Acheampong and Ishmeal Antwi (All Blacks) Larbi Koomson (Zaytuna) Ganiu Yahaya (Real Tamale United) Samuel lnkoom (Kotoko) Isaac Annan (Birim Stars) Joseph Addo (Hassaacas) and Baba Sampana (Real Sportive).
The foreign-based players are: Sadick Adams, Ransford Osei, Abeiku Quansah, Enoch Kofi Adu, Dede Ayew, Jonathan Mensah, David Addy, Daniel Opare and Rabiu Mohammed.
The Championship in Rwanda begins from January 18 to February 1, 2009.
