Ghana U20 side returned home on Sunday night after finishig third at the World Cup in Turkey.
The Black Satellites were given oas rousing welcome following their satisfactory showing in the competition as Africa’s best side.
Some football supporters joined the team at the Kotoka International Airport as they welcomed the players and officials back home.
Several top Ghana FA officials were at the airport to welcome the team to show that their impressive showing was appreciated.
Ebenezer Assifuah underlined his status as the top-scorer at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey, as he helped Ghana beat Iraq 3-nil to secure third place at the tournament.
That was his sixth goal in total at the tournament.
France were crowned Under-20 World Cup champions for the first time after a tense final. France drew 0-0 with Uruguay after extra time and won the subsequent penalty shootout 4-1.
After the match, Uruguay’s Guillermo De Amores was named best goal-keeper of the tournament by Fifa.
It was a particularly memorable event for Ghana’s Ebenezer Assifuah.
The man who wears the number 17 shirt for The Black Satellites and plays his club football for Liberty Professionals FC in Ghana, won the Golden Boot for being the top goal-scorer with six.
Ghana – the winners of this competition in 2009, were the only former champions left in the semi-finals.
Iraq matched their best achievement in a FIFA competition after also coming fourth at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
