Ghana endured one of their worst defeats in their African U-17 history as they lost 6-1 to Nigeria at the 2013 African Junior Championships on Sunday in Morocco.
Coach of the Black Starlets Paa Kwesi Fabin admitted to being shocked by the manner of their defeat in Marrakech.
With a second Group B fixture against Congo to come on Wednesday, Fabin admits that his team must overcome the opening setback as they identify their weaknesses.
“We have to regroup and try to salvage our campaign to reach semi-finals but now we can only look ahead to one game at a time. So we need to have a look at how we approached this game because our tactics and set –up did not work today[Sunday],” Fabin said after the game.
Fabin's preparations for the Congo game have been disrupted by the absence of first choice goalkeeper Lawrence Ati, who was shown the red card.
“Our focus shifts to the next game against Congo and not the one beyond that. And little by little we will see if we can recover from today’s set back,” the Ghana coach said.
