British Airways is targeting Asia, South America and the African routes as part of its strategies to grow the airlines’ revenues. Post financial crises and September 11 terrorist attack have seen most airlines fold up, merge or review their routes to stay in business.
Chief Executive of British Airways Keith Williams told JOYBUSINESS increasing its flights to these regions especially Africa will greatly improve its fortunes.
“So if I look at Africa generally we have increase the amounts of flying to South Africa and other countries the region”, he said.
“So there is number of new destinations added to grow our connections into Africa” he added.
Meanwhile persons wanting to travel to the US from Ghana can now fly with British Airways. This is because the British carrier is offering competitive fares for persons who use the airline to connect to the Americas from Accra through Heathrow.
Speaking to JOYBUSINES in London, country manager of British country James Wooldridge told JOYBUSINESS this is part of strategies to make Heathrow the hub for its operations
“We have some cheapest fares in the market through North America, and we have promotions running periodically throughout the year, to offer customers a fantastic price opportunity to fly to America,” he said.
The airline also plans to invest 5 billion pounds in the next five years in new aircrafts, including super jet jumbo and Dreamliner’s to make travel more comfortable for passengers.
