Failed General Secretary aspirant of the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) Yaw Boabeng Asamoah has commended the over 5,000 delegates for their choice of new leadership for the party.
His campaign team said in a statement that it was gratified many members of the NPP accepted that unity in resources would give the Party the needed strength to win Election 2016.
The statement said the team is very grateful to delegates countrywide for the wonderful reception they gave us when we met with them.
"And we are happy to accept the decision of the delegates for the good of the party, and pledge to continue to work for even stronger unity within the party, and we know that our efforts will be rewarded in the long run".
"It said the Team was grateful to people, who in diverse ways, contributed to the effort that was made and that ultimately their candidates loss could only strengthen the party".
"We are grateful to those who worked for the campaign and sacrificed without inducement and their desire to see unity in this Party demonstrates their commitment to the party, and we are grateful to them," it said.
Kwabena Agyei Agyapong defeated then General Secretary of the party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, to become the new General Secretary.
He polled 2,529 votes while Mr Afriyie got 1,990 votes. The other contestants, Mr Asamoah and Capt Nkrabea Effah Darteh, polled 181 and 46 votes respectively.
