Thirty-five individuals and businesses have been recognized for their exceptional performance in business at the Ghana Business Quality Awards held in Accra.
The event is held annually to reward excellence among the most committed and dedicated entrepreneurs and corporate executives in the country.
It also focuses on recognizing outstanding entrepreneurs and corporate executives who have positively impacted the economic growth of Ghana.
The theme for this year’s awards is ‘Building Ghana beyond Aide: The Role of the Private Sector in Economic Growth and Job Creation.’
Saied Assad Fakhry Chairman of Interplast Ltd won the overall Business performance for 2018.
Other outstanding individuals who were also recognized include Executive Chairman of Allied oil company Ltd Dan Kofi Okudjeto, Chairman Forewin Group Ghassan Yared, Founder and CEO of Reroy Group Kate Quartey Papafio and CEO of Margins Group Moses K Baiden Jnr.

Others were CEO of Allship Logistics Limited Robert Kinsford Kutin Jnr. CEO of Despite Group of Companies Dr Osei Kwame Despite, CEO of Special Investment Ltd Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong and CEO of Consolidated Shipping Agencies Ltd Dr Macdonald Vasnani and Adam Bonaa Ceo of Kazz Group of Companies.
In the best business performance category, Intercity STC Coaches Ltd received an award for the best premium quality transport services of the year, while Nationwide Medical Insurance was rewarded for being the best premium quality health insurance company of the year.

Japan Motors was the best premium quality automotive company while the best quality mobile phone and accessories telecommunications Equipment Company of the year went to Telefonika Ghana Ltd.
Other winners at the second edition of the Ghana Business Quality Awards include Fidelity Bank, Vanguard Assurance co ltd and Max International. Coconut Grove Hotel a subsidiary of Groupe Nduom was adjudged the Best Hospitality service company of the year.
General Manager Coconut Grove Sakumono, Roberta Torkornoo in an interview with JoyBusiness underscored the company’s appreciation for local content in its service delivery.

She praised the leadership and mentoring abilities of Dr and Mrs Nduom for ensuring that clients experience memories worth repeating. Roberta Torkonoo highlighted the numerous taxes levied in the tourism industry.
“If there is a way these tariffs can be looked at the second time and streamlined, then we can have a better industry,” she lamented.
She noted that these many taxes have added to the cost of doing business and contributed to high hotel charges in the country.
The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Rober Ahomka Lindsay was the special guest of honour.
