The 2024 CAF African Schools Football Championship Finals will be hosted in Zanzibar, the intriguing tourism destination situated in Tanzania.
Taking place at the recently renovated Amaan Stadium from May 21st to May 24th, 2024, this marks the second season of Africa’s premier youth football competition finals.
CAF President, Dr Motsepe, alongside numerous African football icons, will grace the Finals of the 2024 edition, featuring winners from Regional/Zonal Qualifiers.
The tournament, designed for Boys and Girls under the age of 15, is a pioneering initiative in world football, conceived by Dr Motsepe in alignment with his vision of investing in the youth of Africa.
Building on the success of its debut edition, participation has surged by 40% this season, with 804,480 young African boys and girls from 28,862 schools across 44 countries engaging in the championship's second season.
In addition to providing a platform for international competition, the championship includes a concurrent capacity-building program, offering scholars, coaches, and educators unique skill-building opportunities.
CAF has implemented various capacity-building initiatives throughout the Zonal Qualifiers, encompassing the Young Reporters Program, Young Referee Program, Young Medical Officers Program, CAF D License Coaching Course, and CAF Safeguarding workshops.
Echoing the previous season, the Finals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship are anticipated to welcome CAF’s Legends, imparting inspiration and encouragement to the budding football talents.
Emmanuel Adebayor, Daniel Amokachi and Amanda Dlamini are some of the top names that have been confirmed for the Continental Finals of this year's Championship.
Also on the list are local stars Abdi Kassim Sadalla, former Tanzanian National Team Captain, and Hilda Masanche, Head coach of the Tanzania U17 Women's National Team.
Each winner in both the Boys’ and Girls’ categories will be awarded $300,000 in prize money, with runners-up receiving $200,000 each, and bronze medalists taking home $150,000 each, courtesy of CAF’s collaboration with the Motsepe Foundation, dedicated to school development projects.
