A total of 5,392 enumerators and supervisors have been deployed to the Northern Region for the 2021 Population and Housing Census.
To ensure the smooth running of the exercise, 39 district field supervisors and 17 district census officers have also been posted. The team arrived on Monday dawn and about 4,236 communities in the region are to be enumerated.

Northern Regional Statistician, George Agbeyen has given the assurance that the region will have a successful counting.
This he said is due to the enthusiasm showed by residents ahead of the exercise.

Chairman of the Northern Regional Census Implementation Committee, Alhaji Alhassan Isahaku, commended members of the various census implementation committees for their technical support and advice.

Urging residents to fully participate in the exercise, Alhassan Isahaku stated that the statistics to be gathered will enable government take up favorable policies for the country.
"Everyone is important and should be counted," he added.
Adding his voice, Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Alhassan Shani Shaibu said "data is very important in the development of a nation. It is important for planners to know the age brackets, the groups, gender, religious, ethnic affiliations among others of the country’s population to help in planning."

He also admonished the deployed census officers to give their utmost best to ensure the exercise is carried out without any glitch or avoidable challenges.
For Alhaji Alhassan Shani Shaibu, embodying the virtue of patience will allow the enumerators to work without clashing with residents in the region.
