The Central Regional Police Command has stepped up the education of students in the basic and senior high schools on issues of kidnapping, abduction and defilement.
According to the Command, the three kidnapped girls in the Western Region gives them a cause to worry about the vulnerability of school children hence the school-to-school educational campaign in the Central Region.
Three girls have been kidnapped in the Western Region since last year and are yet to be released by their kidnappers.

Speaking during a school-to-school educational campaign in the Central Region, Central Regional Police PRO, DSP Irene Serwaa Oppong told Joy News’ Richard Kwadwo, the police administration in the region was working hard to ensure that people especially, children know the tricks employed by criminals to kidnap and abduct children.
“We want to arm students with all the information they need about kidnapping and the tricks used by kidnappers so they are not overtaken by events,” she explained.
The Police PRO was convinced if the children were made the primary recipients of the information, they would be properly armed to escape all incidents of kidnapping.
“I want to give the message to the children themselves and not through their parents. Sometimes, when the message is delivered to their parents, the message does not get to them. We want to open up to the children and talk about the issues with them,” she averred.
The Regional Police Administration says it hopes to reach all schools in the region in order to prevent any child from being kidnapped in the Central Region.
