Founding member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has called on the current national executives to put aside the euphoria of their victory and strive for unity ahead of the 2016 general elections.
According to him, without genuine unity in NPP, the change in the national leadership is “cosmetic”.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe conceded that the party is fractured.
“People in the party shouldn’t play the ostrich; with the kind of tension at the conference grounds in Tamale, we are lucky we came out with a little scratch” he added.
Dr. Tamakloe advised the new leadership with Paul Afoko as Chairman to reach out to the failed aspirants and most importantly the party elders who have taken a back seat to ensure all hands are on deck for victory in 2016.
“Where is Odoi Sykes, Donkor Fodjor and Kwame Pianin? If we really don’t recognize the importance of the people, the future will be bleak for us”.
He also underscored the need for the new crop of leaders to do their job without fear or favour and to restore discipline in party.
Dr. Tamakloe was confident the NPP will regain its status as a vibrant democratic party if the rank and file of the party is united.
“Unity is key; we must not bury our heads in the sand and think all is well. We must work at it” he stressed.
