Mock exams have started for Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE) candidates in the Chereponi district.
The students have lost over 31 days of contact hours with their teachers due to bloody clashes between two ethnic groups over a piece of land.
The security situation remains fairly stable as a possible surprise confrontation by either the Chokosis and Konkombas cast a cloud of safety uncertainty on the students and other residents.
The two ethnic groups have attacked unsuspecting residents of the rival faction, maiming them and displacing hundreds of fleeing women and children.
The students, however, remain determined.
The mock exams started on Thursday, according to Joy News’ Gifty Andoh-Appiah at the Chereponi EP and DA Junior High Schools ahead of the main exams next month on June 10.
According to Gifty, an emotional appeal by a student, Ahseaa Amadu, has prompted authorities to step up security in the area and give students the peace of mind to study for the final exams.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and the Interior, Collins Owusu-Amankwah, has proposed the introduction of independent arbitrators in the conflict.
He is of the view that considering that a mediation process led by Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, has failed to end the conflict between the two groups, his proposal is worth considering.
