Chiefs and interest groups involved in the brouhaha surrounding the events that led to the dismissal of the Lower Manya Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), have expressed contentment with the decision by the President.

A statement from the office of the President a fortnight ago ordered the embattled MCE, Isaac Agbo Tetteh to hand-over duties to the Eastern regional minister.

This follows series of protests from various interest groups including some National Democratic Congress (NDC) polling station executives, traders and representitives of the chiefs and elders of the area.

Three persons were arrested after protesters clashed with the police when they attempted to storm the premises of the municipal assembly  to disrupt the swearing-in ceremony of the assembly members who were elected four years ago but could not be sworn-in due to a court case.

The disgruntled residents of the municipality had accused the MCE of showing gross disrespect to the chiefs and elders of the area.

They also  blamed the MCE for poor performance leading to underdevelopment and nepotism.

The Chief of Akuse who doubles as the spokesperson of the Manya Krobo Traditional Council, Nene Asad-Ahor, while praising President John Mahama for listening to the concerns and acting appropriately called for the "immediate appointment of a new person to the office of MCE."

''I can tell you on authority that the traditional council led by the paramount chief is most grateful  to the president for hearing us out. Agbo was a nuisance to us here, he listens to no advice,,,", he added.

Though Isaac Agbo Tetteh stands the chance of being re-appointed since he only served his first term of office, Nene Asad-Ahor was quick to kick against any intended decision of that sort.

''Please and please,I can tell you that the traditional council and the Konor (paramount chief) will not accept that decision. They can appoint any true party man for MCE, not Agbo'', he said.

A section  of the traders at the Agormanya central market interviewed by Joy News expressed gratitude to authorities for firing Agbo Tetteh from office.

These traders who claimed the assembly under the supervision of the former MCE failed to address certain basic needs in the market including the construction of pavement, even though they pay high levies, told Joy news they now have a new hope.

Meanwhile some members of the NDC have appealed to the President and the appointing authorities to do proper scrutiny of the potential candidates "to know the people's choice ahead of the appointment of a new MCE."

A staunch member of the party, Paul Opata Brady told Joy News they will happily welcome the candidate who has gone through the thick and thin in bringing the party to power.

''We expect that a true party man is appointed. The one who was seen with the MP and all the party people during the 2012 campaign'', he explained.
