The true spirit of Christmas—a blend of compassion, community, and tangible hope—filled a church in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality this festive season. Some 250 widows gathered, not for solemnity, but for a celebration of honour, receiving essential gifts and spiritual fellowship thanks to the annual initiative of the Sametro Group of Companies.
Owners of Space FM, the Sametro Group, demonstrated their deep commitment to the community by distributing vital food items, including bags of rice and bottles of cooking oil. What began as a donation drive transformed into a profound gathering of recognition and care.

For Dr Samuel Gordon Etroo, Chief Executive Officer of the Sametro Group, the motivation is both personal and scriptural. “This idea was birthed from the biblical directive in 1 Timothy 5:3 to ‘honour widows,’” Dr Etroo shared. To ensure the aid reached those most in need, the selection process was conducted transparently through announcements on Space FM.

The day’s support extended beyond the material. Dr Etroo delivered a heartfelt message of salvation, emphasising love and leading the attendees in a spiritual moment of reflection and acceptance.
“We bring them together not only for material support but for spiritual growth and community bonding,” he explained. “It’s about touching the heart and the soul. This season is about the gift of God’s love, and we wanted to share that truth tangibly.”

The impact of this dual gift was evident on the faces of the beneficiaries, reflecting relief, gratitude, and the powerful feeling of being seen. The donations promise a merrier Christmas where families can share a nourishing meal, while the message of hope offers sustenance for the year ahead.

As the widows departed with their packages and uplifted spirits, the event stood as a beautiful local testament to the Christmas promise: a reminder that in the heart of Tarkwa, kindness is actively expressed, and no member of the community is forgotten.
