Richard Adu-Poku, a climate change expert, has cautioned the public against the use of tinted glasses in residential buildings.
He said those glasses highly absorb heat and could worsen the climatic condition which could lead to serious health complications.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Adu-Poku, who is also the Executive Director of the Livelihood and Environment Ghana, an environmentally centred Non-Governmental Organisation, said extreme heat could lead to infertility among many men, adding that many men who lived in extreme heat were unlikely to impregnate their wives or give birth.
“The semen requires certain temperatures to function effectively, and if we are unable to manage the heat in our homes, it’s as if we can’t impregnate our wives and partners,” he stated.
Mr Adu-Poku advised the public to support the government’s climate change adaptation and mitigation actions to mitigate impacts, saying climate change-related drought had a major impact on food security and health.
