The Head of the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Dr Kwesi Jonah has expressed regrets at government's decision to close down Ghana’s mission in Serbia.
Dr. Jonah blamed western countries for influencing Ghana government decision to close down the Embassy.
He stated that Kosovo is not even recognised in other African countries.
Speaking to Adom News, he attributed the decision to close both embassies as an action to satisfy the Western Countries who fought for the independence of Kosovo.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni told parliament that the decision by the Serbian Authority came as a result of Ghana’s decision to give international recognition to Kosovo who has recently been declared as an independent state.
But the lecturer said Kosovo is a tiny population of 2 million people who depend on aid from United Nations and other donors to survive.
He said the economy of Kosovo is not vibrant enough for Ghana to close its ties with Serbia.
He has therefore urged government to rescind its decision.
