The CIR Summit 2024, organised by the Chartered Institute of Realtors (CIR) and the Chamber of Real Estate (CRE), in partnership with the Embassy of Lebanon, concluded last Friday.
The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, traditional leaders, industry experts, and key stakeholders to tackle two pressing issues facing Ghana: flood mitigation and the reduction of the country’s housing deficit.

Held at the Accra International Conference Centre from 10 am to 1 pm, the Summit, themed “Partnering to Resolve Flooding and Reducing the Housing Deficit in Ghana,” featured a series of keynote addresses, an expert panel discussion, and the launch of a strategic social housing scheme.
Experts from academia, real estate, and the government sectors shared innovative solutions and sustainable practices aimed at addressing these challenges.

The summit offered valuable insights into how the nation can build a roadmap for long-term housing development and flood prevention, showcasing strategies that can mitigate flooding while also reducing the housing shortage.
In attendance were several media houses and participants who captured the essence of this groundbreaking event.

Speaking at the summit, the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, Maher Kheir, underscored the importance of finding solutions to Ghana’s flooding issues and reaffirmed his unwavering support for the institute’s initiatives.
He commended CIR and CRE for their foresight, stating, “I am excited about this initiative and believe our partnership will go a long way in helping to resolve these challenges.”

Dr. Mark Ankrah, a Social Housing and Regeneration Consultant and former Managing Director of the State Housing Company, expressed his enthusiasm for the event's success.
"We are thrilled with the outcome of the CIR Summit," he remarked.
“The event provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration, and we are confident that the insights gained will drive innovation and progress in the real estate industry as well as national development.”

The discussions, expertly led by Dr Ankrah, Dr Isaac Arthur, and Enkelejda Xhebexhiu, addressed the critical need for sustainable housing solutions and flood management strategies, offering actionable solutions that could reshape Ghana's real estate landscape.
With this year’s summit concluded the organisers are optimistic about expanding their efforts globally, contributing significantly to the real estate industry's growth while advancing sustainable solutions for national development.
