A couple who allegedly lured their female friend aged 22 and subjected her to a four hour sexual assault at their Bubuashie residence in Accra have been arraigned before a magistrate court. The man has been emanded in custody.
While the man, Frederick Mensah, 38, a trader had an affair with the 22 year old victim, his wife, Naa Odai Kaa, 40, also a trader fondled and caressed the woman’s breasts and other sensitive parts.
Later, the man told the police that he had no regrets for assaulting the victim because she is capable of bearing him a child. His wife also said the victim is a good lesbian partner, claiming that if the victim became pregnant she would be a willing victim for their sexual escapade.
Fredrick admitted assaulting her when he was put before a magistrate’s court in Accra and was remanded in prison custody. The docket has since been referred to the Attorney General’s office for advice.
Kaa also admitted fondling and caressing the victim but she is on police enquiry bail pending the outcome of the Attorney General’s advice.
Inspector Irene Oppong, the Public Affairs officer of the Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit (DOVVSU)told ‘The Spectator’ in an interview that the complainant was a friend of Kaa and a resident of Kaneshie in Accra.
On December 10, 2006 Fredrick informed her that his wife, Kaa was sick and wanted her to visit her and she obliged.
Inspector Irene said the complainant arrived at the couple’s house at about 5 pm and when she asked about their whereabouts she was surprisingly informed that Fredrick had gone to town and Kaa was attending the funeral of a friend.
The Police Inspector said the victim waited until about 8.30 pm when Kaa returned home and served her with a drink and she quickly called her husband on phone to come home and he surfaced within minutes.
She said the couple asked the victim to pass the night with them and though she refused, they persisted until she finally gave in to their demands.
As soon as the complainant entered their room, Kaa pushed her on the bed and forcibly undressed her.
Fredrick rushed on her and had an affair with her while Kaa fondled her breasts until about 4 am the next day when she was allowed to leave after being given an Ericksson mobile phone and ¢40,000 with a warning not to tell anyone about the incident or they will deal with her.
The complainant, who could not endure the trauma, reported the matter to the police and the accused persons were arrested.
