An Adabraka District Court has granted a GH¢10,000 bail with two sureties to a 34-year-old trader accused of posing as a military officer to impress a nurse at the 37 Military Hospital.
Joseph Baada pleaded not guilty to charges of using military accoutrements without lawful authority pretending to be a public officer.
He is expected to reappear on March 24, 2026.
The prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Apewah Achana, told the Court that the complainant, Warrant Officer Class One Fiamegu Mascow, is with the Military Police Detachment of the Ghana Armed Forces, Burma Camp, Accra.
The Court heard that on February 8, 2026, at about 1800 hours, Baada was spotted at the dispensary gate of the hospital dressed in a military camouflage uniform over slippers, without a rank, a lanyard, a name tag or a shoulder badge.
This created suspicion, and upon being confronted, it was discovered that he was a civilian and not a soldier.
He was arrested and taken to the Military Police Headquarters at Burma Camp for interrogation and later handed over to the Police at the Nima Divisional Command.
In his cautioned statement, Baada admitted wearing the uniform, explaining that he did so to impress a female nurse he had met at the hospital the previous day.
He told investigators he purchased the camouflage uniform from the Kantamanto Market.
After investigations, he was arraigned.
