The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) circuit court has ordered that a 49-year-old man and member of the Krofrom Town Council Task Force should be kept in prison custody for defiling a six-year-old girl.
Yaw Owusu's plea was not taken and would re-appear on Wednesday February 3.
Police Inspector Martin Assenso told the court presided over by Mr Justice Adjei Frimpong that at about 1100 hours on January 12, the girl was playing in front of her house, when Owusu asked her to accompany him to buy a shoe polish.
He later lured her to his bedroom where he sexually abused her.
Inspector Assenso said Owusu gave 20 pesewas to her and warned her not tell anybody about the act.
Three days after, the victim fell sick and told the mother about her ordeal.
He said a complaint was made to the police, who arrested Owusu and charged him with the offence after investigation.
