The Accra Circuit Court ‘8’, presided over by justice Jojo Amoah Hagan, has struck out the case brought against the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie-Moore and one other.
Delivering his ruling, the judge stated that the charge sheet filed by the police was "defective and bad for duplicity", adding that the prosecution had no jurisdiction to handle a matter involving an amount exceeding GH¢500,000 without express authorization from the Attorney General.
The case in question reportedly involved an alleged amount of US$1,605,950.
The court further ruled that the accused persons were not properly served, emphasising that the accused must be personally informed of any criminal action taken against them.
The judge therefore struck out the case and discharged Ashie-Moore and his co-accused accordingly.
Speaking after the court’s decision, supporters and well-wishers of Ashie-Moore expressed renewed confidence in his leadership, describing him as “a resilient and visionary leader who has sacrificed immensely for the party’s growth.”
Ashie-Moore, for his part, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the NDC and the people of Greater Accra.
“I have always believed in the rule of law and the will of God. This victory is not mine alone it belongs to every loyal party member who stood by the truth. My focus remains on strengthening our structures, empowering our youth and ensuring the NDC’s total victory in the next elections,” he declared.
