All is set for the third edition of the Cowbell National Cycling Tour which begins from Accra on Monday 27.
The 13 day event will see 72 cyclists from twelve teams drawn from the country riding a total race distance of 1313 kilometres through 8 regions.
Winner of the first two editions, Henry Tetteh Djangmah of the Die Hard Team will certainly face stiff opposition from Samuel Anim who has finished second in all two editions.
Samuel Anim who rides with Young Stars tells JOY Sports “in 2011 I was second, last year I was second and third.
But this year, with the help of God and my team members, I am sure I can win the cycling tour.
This year will be the last cycling tour in Ghana. I am saying this because next year the competition will take an international dimension. So I have to win this year.”
The race starts in Accra on May 27, 2013 to Mankessim, where the cyclists would be transported to Cape Coast. They will then race from Cape Coast to Takoradi and back, before moving from Assin Fosu to Kumasi on May 29.
The race will move on from the Garden City to Sunyani on May 30 and to Tamale in the north. There would be a race around the Tamale Metropolis on June 1st before moving to Buipe, Kintampo and Techiman where there would be a Publicity ride on June 2.
The race moves back to Kumasi on June 3 and display in the Garden City on June 4, before being transported to Koforidua, through Mamfe, Adukrom and back to Koforidua.
From the Flower City of Koforidua, the race moves to Ada, through Dodze, Denu, and back to Ada on June 7. From Ada the convoy will race to Tema and to the finishing line on June 8.
