The District Chief Executive for Krachi West in the Volta Region, Moses Kwame Ponye, has directed police in the area to arrest and deal with any person who disturbs the peace in the area.
Sixteen people were arrested over the weekend after clashes in the area. They have been charged with disturbing public peace and are expected to appear before court Monday.
The DCE Moses Kwame Ponye told Joy News an emergency District Security Committee meeting concluded that persons involved in the clash are dealt with without fear or favour.
“Two people are fighting and if you want to back somebody, you need to advice but if you organise yourself to attack individually, it is a criminal act,” he said.
He assured that the District Security Committee was determined to maintained peace in the area and has therefore asked the police in the area investigate the disturbances.
“We will make sure that anybody who will flout the law, we will deal with him” according to the laws of the country,” he maintained.
“I don’t think there is [a] chance for anybody to misbehave according to his own interest, we need to seek the interest of the whole district…we need peace in the area,” he cautioned.
