Agro chemicals meant to be distributed free of charge to cocoa farmers in the Sekyere East District in the Ashanti Region have been sold by some NDC executives in the area.
The District Chief Executive, Solomon Agyei Mensah, and the Constituency Chairman, William Brobbey are alleged to have masterminded the sale of the products and sharing the proceeds among constituency executives of the party.
Luv FM’s Kwabena-Apratwum reported over 200 boxes of the chemicals with inscriptions "Not for sale" were sold.
The Branch Chairman of the party Richard Bimpong who made the allegation said the DCE and the Constituency Chairman sold the chemicals to some farmers at Drobonso.
According to him, the DCE took ¢2,000 as proceeds from the sale of the products.
The Constituency Secretary Samuel Adjei confirmed receiving an amount of 500 but said he was not aware it was proceeds from the sale of the chemicals.
“It is true I took some money but I did not know it was out of the sale of agro chemicals. He gave the money to me in Town,” he stated.
He said they are yet to meet as constituency executives to discuss the sale of the products.
Mr. Agyei-Mensah who officially received the chemicals denied playing any role in the sale of the chemicals or receiving any money.
