The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Twifu Atti Mokwaa in the Central region has accused the police in the area of being involved in illegal mining activities, also known as galamsey.
He is therefore calling for their transfer.
According to Bossman Osei Hyiaman, there will be no end in sight for galemsey activities in the vicinity if all the police personnel are not immediately transferred.
This follows clashes between some illegal miners and the police at Twifu Praso over the death of two galamsey operators and the destruction of some property belonging to the police.
"I need the wholesale transfer of all the police in [this area]. They are seriously part of the problem..." the DCE stated.
He added that "I need a holistic transfer, from top to down, everybody should [leave] my district."
