The death toll in Saturdays' huge inferno at Midland International near the Tema Port has risen to four.
The Public Relations Officer at the Tema Fire Service, Timothy Osafo Affum told Joy News the dead are an engineer and two others said to be welders, as well as the managing director of the company.
Facilities at the major supplier of ethanol for alcohol production in Ghana were razed to the ground in the fire suspected to have been caused by naked flames exposed to the highly combustible substance. Some welders were said to be working on a tanker at the loading bay of the company when the fire started.
Fire personnel had a hectic time at the scene trying to put out the fire which raged for over five hours because of the highly inflammable materials caught in the fire.
They complained of inadequate and faulty equipment as the inferno destroyed the structure, vehicles and merchandize worth millions of cedis.
