The Minority is accusing the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ebo Barton Oduro, of breaking the ground rules set for debating the president's State of the Nation address.
They say the Deputy Speaker is adopting tactics to frustrate the minority members, who are subjecting the president's state of the nation address to critique.
According to Joy FM's Parliamentary Correspondent, Elton John Brobbey, the NPP Member of Parliament for New Juabeng South, Mark Asibey Yeboah, in his critique of the address, described the president as frustrated, a remark, which did not go down well with the Information Minister and MP for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga.
Ayariga then pleaded with the substantive speaker, Doe Adjaho, to force the MP to withdraw the comment.
The Speaker, who was then about to exit the chamber, however, said the remark was only the opinion of the MP.
The Deputy Speaker, who then took over the chair, asked Mark Asibey Yeboah to round up his comment in a minute, an order, which angered the NPP MPs.
They argued the New Juabeng South MP had not exhausted the 10 minute allotted him.
Per the ground rules of the debate, back-benchers in Parliament had 10 minutes, while the leadership had 15 minutes to make their arguments.
The minority insisted Mark Asibey Yeboah had barely exhausted even half of his allotted time.
The disagreements caused a bit of a stand-off in Parliament, Elton Brobbey reported.
After almost 15 minutes of exchanges, the Deputy Speaker allowed Mark Asibey Yeboah time to conclude his argument.
He said the depreciation of the cedi and the rising cost of fuel in the country are only a testimony of the incompetence of the Mahama administration.
