Deputy Communications Director of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Solomon Ofosu Ware has stated it is early to pass judgement on Michael Osei’s tenure as coach.
Osei led Kotoko to only their second win of the season with a 3-1 win over Liberty Professionals. The former Kotoko has been touted as the man to turn the corner for the Porcupines but Ofosu Ware believes it is too early.
“We had some training and we played a friendly match before our match against Liberty Professionals and it a true reflection of the preparations we had but it too early to say Micheal Osei will do the job for Kumasi Asante Kotoko,” he told Asempa Sports.
“We were expecting to win this match but not with this huge margin by beating Liberty 3 goals to 1 but the truth is, if you are a coach and you don’t know the playing style of Kotoko you will suffer as coach because the team can win and still you will be criticized as a coach and they can also draw by playing beautiful football and you will still be praised as a coach.”
Asked if is the end of the road for Coach David Duncan, the communications director was quite evasive and did not give a concrete answer.
“This is not the end for Coach David Duncan because he was aiming to top the by the fifth matchday but we saw that he was hugely frustrated as a coach because he ambitions were not coming as he planned from the beginning of the season.”
“Duncan is a strong personality and Michael Osei is a man of his own and we were hoping that if you blend these two personalities together it will work but it couldn’t but it doesn’t mean that is the end for Coach David Duncan,” he added.
Kotoko now have eight points on the log and lie in 9th place.
