Doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have begun treatment for a 14-year-old girl who has been denied treatment for bone cancer she contracted two years ago.
Vivian contracted the illness after stepping on a stone while playing in school.
Doctors had warned earlier that she could lose her life if the rotten leg is not amputated with immediate effect.
But her guardians who say they do not have funds to treat her took her away from the Hospital where she was receiving treatment, on the instructions of a pastor.
A lack of funds is not the only reason the 14-year-old's parents have removed her from the hospital. They believe their daughter’s problem is spiritual.
However, Vivian’s uncle, Forster Adabang has confirmed to Joy News that she has been returned to the hospital and is being attended to by doctors.
He said doctors are still conducting some tests on Vivian and will proceed with treatment depending on the results from the tests.
Doctors at the hospital told Joy News’ Matilda Wemegah they will decide on whether or not to operate on Vivian by Monday.
A retired army officer, Captain Budu Koomson who has been financing Vivian’s initial treatment has called on the general public to support Vivian.
The Gender Minister, Nana Oye Lithur has also instructed the social welfare department to monitor Vivian’s health and present a report by end of Thursday
She has promised to do all she can to ensure that Vivian gets the needed support.
