Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, has called on unit committee members in the metropolis to eschew abuse of power.
She urged them to consider themselves as partners of the assembly in the execution of programmes and projects in the metropolis.
Madam Appiagyei was speaking at the inauguration of 402 unit committees, made up of over 4,000 elected members and 2,000 government appointees in Kumasi.
She expressed regret that the number of women participating in the unit committees was small and stressed the need for more women to involve themselves in decision-making process to enhance the status of women towards the development of their areas.
Madam Appiagyei advised the youth to collaborate with unit committees to initiate more development projects.
Mr. Justice Bright Mensah, a Kumasi High Court Judge, who swore the members into office, charged them to perform their duties efficiently.
The members in their response pledged to be honest and faithful in the performance of their duties to accelerate development.
Nana Adjei Kesse IV, Presiding Member of the KMA, urged the members to ensure that democracy and good governance entrenched in the country.
